Project Title: Arduino 101 based Remote Controlled toy car, with motion, acceleration and video feedback to an Android phone/tablet

Project Description:

Arduino 101 is an Intel Cure MCU development board containing BLE, and accelerometer and a gyro. In this project a modified toy car is controlled by an Arduino 101, which is in turn controlled by an Android App. The Arduino 101 returns data using its accelerometer and gyro. The project also involves adding a camera and reporting video to the App.

Project Title: Weather Monitor with NodeMCU ESP8266 Breakout Board
Course Suitability: BE/BSc

Project Description:

This project involves data acquisition (temperature, humidity, pressure, rainfall) using the ESP8266 to post weather data to the Weather Underground web-site (www.wunderground.com). The ESP8266 is a low-cost Wi-Fi chip with full TCP/IP stack and MCU (Micro Controller Unit) capability produced by Espressif Systems. See http://nodemcu.com/index_en.html . (Note that this project is an opportunity to become familiar with the Lua programming language).

Project Title: Arduino 101 Gesture controlled MIDI interface

Project Description:

This project use the Arduino 101 to detect gestures and generates MIDI notes. The project involves recognising gestures, developing a MIDI controller based on Arduino and interfacing it to PC based MIDI software.

Project Title: Personal GPS Navigator.

Project Description:

This project involves using a GPS device, interfacing to (probably) Arduino, logging data for upload to Google Earth and displaying user information on an LCD display. The device should ideally be wearable and battery powered for portability.
